Subject: Re: Fw: Virgin in glory surrended by the seven archangels - many questions and misteries !?

Good Morning
I'm ad indipendent italian  resercher  about the ancient worship of the sevent archangels. I 've seen, by internet navigation, that, in this fine Gallery is present the painting named : Virgin in Glory Surrounded by Seven ArchangelsMaster of Marradi (active 1480–1500) The Courtauld, London (Samuel Courtauld Trust) I wanna ask you some informations about this picture and its real painter, because , as i can see, on the draperies of each archangel are present their names  and it's not possible that Master of Marradi, knew the name of the archangels, before the disclosure of the Apocalypsis Nova of Amadeo da Sylva (1506). So it is very interesting to know how these names:
- Michaello,
- Gabriello,
- Rafaello (left),
- Barachiello (right under St. Michael) ,
- Uriello clearly legible in the center,
- Iesuello (in the left corner),
- the other not legibles,
were appointed in the picture.
How did the master of Marradi knew these names before they were discovered in Palermo (1516) by Tommaso Bellorosso and Antonio lo duca ? We suspect that "Virgin in glory surrended by the seven archangels" , is olso  the iconographic antecedent of the main picture of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri of Rome. i thank you, for you answers. Avv. Carmine Alvino Avellino (Italy)

Gentile Avv. Alvino,
Cordiali saluti, Karen  Serres Curator of Paintings The Courtauld Gallery Somerset House, Strand London WC2R 0RN

The Last Archangel name seem to be: "S anc (t) Vello "  that is  - Saint in italian renaissance language The history of the seven angel's names discovery begins in 1471, when Blessed Amadeo, went to Rome in San Pietro in Montorio, where he obtained eight mistic vision, with the name of the seven Angel:
Michael
Gabriel
Raphael
Uriel
Sealtie
Eucudiel
Barachiel.
In the first Vision or Rapture, he wrote that Angel Gabriel told him: " We are the Seven Angels, who venerate our God's Mother, and we overcome everyone of your kind" The Apocalypsis Nova - the Blessed Amadeo Book - was opened only in 1506 by St Croce Archibishop and Cardinal . There is, oslo, the discovery of the seven angels name of Palermo, by Tommaso Bellorosso and Antonio lo Duca, in 1516. The found the same images of the Archangels with the same names, but the prophetic font was different from Amadeo, couse the position and the morphological structure of the images, and the absence of any kind of Marian Iconology and Iconography. In our image, the great difference beetween Amadeo's Archangels names, and Master of Marradi's Archangels names, push us to say that, this painting doesn't not come from an amaeditas ambient, reveling  as only an attempt to give names to the seven archangel. But there are many affinities or reference with the high altar's painting of  Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri of Rome, that Antonio lo Duca,  commissioned in the first part of XVI sec, in Venice; as a copy of a originary peinture, that has never been found. I thank you for you answear Carmine Alvino
